My cabinet of curiosities

Pannel Shows, specifically comedy ones such as Mock the week and Who's line is it anyway? have allways sparked an interest for me, my desire to be on a pannel show was the first thing that got me interested in the Media. From initially just watching the pannel shows i then became interested in the filming and editing side of them.

My main source of media entertainment generally comes from British comedies, both classic and new ones. Examples of these are Brass Eye and Peep Show. I find that the style of comedy these shows present is both helerious and incredibly well written.

The first thing that attracted me to radio was again a British comedy, namely "Knowing me, knowing you" with presenter Steeve Coogan as Alan Partridge. Where as i have never had any hands on experience with radio, it has allways been something i wanted to learn more about and gain more knowledge around that area.

Another aspect of the media which i like is music. This could take the form of live performances, music video's or music documentaries. When looking at music TV from 10 years ago it is facinating to see how much more technically advanced the video's are today, however there are still classic video's that can never be beaten such as A-ha's 'Take on Me'

I find most adverts both annoying and painful to watch. An example of an excruciatingly painful advert to watch is Foxes Bingo, which unfortunatly comes up on TV every time there is a break on ITV. However there are certain adverts which are genuinly a peice of genius work, such as the Honda advert as shown below.

Makes you want to hang yourself Foxes Bingo video- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fmZdD32kkrc&feature=related

Brilliantly clever Honda one (That makes you want to live) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2VCfOC69jchttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2VCfOC69jc

There are also some aspects of the media that i hate with a passion, namely reality TV shows such as My Super Sweet 16 and Big Brother. The times that i have seen them i can sort of understand why people would view them, but as i watched them i felt as if my soul was eroding away.

Another aspect of the media that is annoying is the use of terrifying headlines published by the Daily Mail, in some weird attempt to get people so frightened that they feel they MUST buy the paper just so they can read about how much trouble they are in.
